Good printer, some assembly needed

I ordered the Tronxy X5SA-400 about a month ago. It shipped out pretty quick, took about 10 days to reach me here in California, which was expected for a larger item. The packaging was good, everything was secure. Assembly was a project; it's definitely a DIY kit, not for someone wanting plug-and-play. The instructions were okay, but I also watched a few YouTube videos to help. Once built, it prints pretty well. I've been using it for large-scale prototypes, and the print quality has been consistent. Had a question about the auto-leveling sensor calibration, and their support team responded to my email within 24 hours with a helpful guide. I appreciated that. Overall, for the price and print volume, it's a solid machine, just be ready to put in some build time.

Happy with the D01 Plus

Got the D01 Plus a couple weeks ago. It was easy to put together, way simpler than I thought it'd be. Prints are turning out nice and clean. No problems with it at all. Good little printer for what I needed.

Decent filament, slow shipping

I bought some black PLA Filament from Tronxy. The quality of the filament itself is good, no clogs and prints smoothly on my other printer. The color is consistent. My main issue was the shipping. It took nearly three weeks to arrive, which felt a bit long for just filament. I understand these things happen, but a quicker delivery would have been better. Customer service was responsive when I inquired about the delay, which was a plus. Value is okay, not the cheapest but not overpriced.

what's the deal with returns if a printer shows up busted? heard some horror stories from other brands.

L Linda Gomez 3 weeks ago
I had a minor issue with my hotend when my XY-3 SE arrived. Contacted support, sent them pics/video. They sent a replacement part pretty quick, didn't have to return the whole thing. Was a smooth process.

My buddy returned a defective mainboard. Had to send it back, but they covered shipping and sent a new one. Took about 2 weeks total.

Thinking about getting a Moore 1 for clay. How reliable are these clay printers from Tronxy? Heard mixed things about other brands.

R Richard 1 month ago
I got the Moore 2 Pro last year, it's been a workhorse for my ceramic projects. Setup was a bit fiddly, but once it's calibrated, it's pretty consistent. Just make sure your clay consistency is good.

My friend has the Moore 1. He says it's decent for the price. The main thing is the maintenance, cleaning the extruder is key after each print.

Anyone know if they do free shipping often? Or is that just a rare promo?

S Sofia T. 3 days ago
They have free shipping deals sometimes, especially during big sales like Black Friday or for certain printers. It's not always on though.

I got free shipping on my filament order last month, but that was part of a bundle deal. For printers, it's hit or miss unless it's a specific promotion.

hey, anyone ordered a printer to like, California recently? trying to figure out how long shipping usually takes for the big stuff.

W William Perez 3 weeks ago
Mine (an X5SA-400) got to LA in about 8 days after ordering. That was last month. Not too bad for a big box from overseas.

I'm in Florida, got my D01 Plus in 10 days. I think they ship from a US warehouse for some items, at least that's what the tracking looked like for me.

are tronxy printers good for someone who's never had a 3d printer before? or should i start with something simpler?

L Leah Hall 3 weeks ago
Depends which model. Some of their kits are definitely more advanced. The XY-2 Pro is pretty beginner-friendly though, comes mostly assembled.

I started with an X5SA kit as my first printer. It was a steep learning curve with the assembly and calibration, but I learned a ton. If you like to tinker, it's fine. If you want plug-and-play, maybe look at something like the Ender 3 from Creality first.
